Product Information
- R-2-Amino-4-Pentynoic acid
D-Propargylglycine is an inhibitor of the enzyme alanine racemase that is used in the manufacture of L-alanine. It inhibits the production of L-alanine by blocking the conversion of L-alanine to D-alanine. This drug has been shown to be a potent inhibitor of renal proximal tubular uptake and protein synthesis, which may be due to its ability to bind to reactive sites on these enzymes. The process for manufacturing D-propargylglycine involves a synthetic reaction with ethyl esters, which can be inactivated by heat treatment. D-propargylglycine has been shown to have a short half-life due to its rapid uptake by the kidney and subsequent elimination from the body via renal excretion.
