Product Information
- 5-Oxo-L-Prolamide
L-Pyroglutamamide is a drug that has been used in the treatment of metabolic disorders, such as high blood pressure and congestive heart failure. It is an intramolecular hydrogen acceptor, which means it can bind to an electron pair on the other side of a double bond. This binding process is reversible, and L-pyroglutamamide may be converted back to its original form by hydrolysis. L-Pyroglutamamide also has the ability to inhibit certain enzyme pathways that are important for fatty acid synthesis. This inhibition leads to a decrease in the production of β-unsaturated ketones and consequently reduces the amount of energy metabolism in humans.
