Potassium stannate trihydrate is a water-insoluble, white powder that is used as a cross-linking agent for polycarboxylic acids. It has been shown to be effective in the treatment of wastewater containing high concentrations of organic matter, such as methyl sulfone and carbon source. Potassium stannate trihydrate reacts with these compounds to produce insoluble iron oxides. These particles are then precipitated by adding an excess of potassium hydroxide. The particle size can be controlled by the concentration and temperature of the reaction solution, which can also be varied depending on the desired application. Potassium stannate trihydrate is used as a catalyst in organic solution chemistry due to its ability to catalyze reactions involving electron transfer between molecules or ions. It has been shown to exhibit gas sensing properties and can be used as a replacement for platinum group metal catalysts in some gas sensor applications. Potassium stannate trihydrate has been crystallized
