Product Information
(5-Phenyl-1H-imidazol-2-yl)methylamine is a low molecular weight agonist of somatostatin receptor subtype 4 (SSTR4). It has been shown to have an antagonistic effect on the somatostatin receptor. The conformation of this compound is different from that of other agonists and it has been shown to be more potent than other agonists in binding to SSTR4. This drug also binds to the somatostatin receptor with high affinity and its activity is reversible, unlike other drugs with similar structures. MK-4256, a drug that contains this molecule as its active ingredient, was developed by Merck & Company.
