Description:
4'-n-Propylacetophenone is a solid that melts at 45°C. It has been shown to be an excellent catalyst in the production of indenes from ethylene and acetone at temperatures below 200°C. 4'-n-Propylacetophenone is also useful for the preparation of other alkaloids, such as morphine and codeine. The product can be easily purified by simple filtration or crystallization. Yields are generally high in this process.
