Product Information
- 4-(1-Pyrenyl)butyric hydrazide
- 1-Pyrenebutanoic acid, hydrazide
- 4-(Pyren-1-Yl)Butanehydrazide
1-Pyrenylbutyral hydrazide (1-PBH) is an analytical method that is used to detect butyric acid in urine samples. 1-PBH reacts with aldehyde groups on glycan chains to produce a fluorescent product, which can then be detected using the MALDI-TOF mass spectrometer. This reaction is specific for butyric acid because it does not react with glutaric acid or other normal metabolites. The detection sensitivity of 1-PBH is low, but it has been shown to be useful for detecting butyric acid in urine samples from patients with glutaric acidemia type I.
