Product Information

Name:
N-(1-Pyrenyl)iodoacetamide
Synonyms:
  • acetamide, 2-iodo-N-1-pyrenyl-
Description:

N-(1-Pyrenyl)iodoacetamide is a cardiac drug that has been shown to inhibit the activity of the regulatory domain of actin. It binds to the regulatory domain (R) of actin, and inhibits the interaction with G-actin monomers, which disrupts actin polymerization. This inhibition leads to a decrease in cell motility and an increase in cell adhesion. N-(1-Pyrenyl)iodoacetamide also binds to other proteins such as annexins, which are involved in cellular processes such as apoptosis and signal transduction. The affinity constants for this drug are low, indicating that it will not bind tightly to its target protein.
