This compound has been shown to be able to catalyze the Suzuki coupling reaction, and can also reduce halides and acetals. 2-(4-Pyridinyl)benzaldehyde has been expressed ectopically in radiata pine trees and advances have been made in cross-coupling reactions with palladium.
