Product Information
2-Phenoxybenzonitrile is a diphenyl ether that has been shown to have an anti-inflammatory effect by inhibiting the production of prostaglandins. 2-Phenoxybenzonitrile is also an agonist for the receptor CRTH2 and has increased the proliferation of activated lymphocytes. It activates the growth of cells in cancer, diabetic neuropathy, and other inflammatory diseases. The mechanism of action for 2-phenoxybenzonitrile is unknown; however, it may be due to its ability to bind with a specific protein or enzyme. This chemical is not found in nature and can be synthesized by reacting hydrogen chloride with 2-chlorobenzonitrile.
