Name:
1-Phenyl-4-carboxy-5-aminopyrazole
Synonyms:
  • 5-Amino-1-phenylpyrazole-4-carboxylic acid
  • 5-Amino-1-phenyl-1H-pyrazole-4-carboxylic acid
Description:

1-Phenyl-4-carboxy-5-aminopyrazole is a potent inhibitor of topoisomerase. It is a potent inhibitor of the enzyme's ability to break and form covalent bonds with DNA, inhibiting both bacterial and mammalian cell growth. The 1-phenyl group in this compound stabilizes the pyrazole ring, which has been shown to inhibit cox-2 (cyclooxygenase 2) as well as other enzymes that are involved in inflammation. In addition, this compound has shown antibacterial activity against a variety of bacteria including methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).
