1-(Phenylacetyl)piperazine (1PAP) is a non-peptide ligand that activates the thrombin receptor. It binds to the peptide binding site on the receptor and increases the affinity of 1PAP for the thrombin receptor by 2 orders of magnitude. This leads to disruption of platelet function, which can lead to thrombus formation. 1PAP has been shown to have antiplatelet activity in vivo and in vitro, which could be due to its ability to activate the thrombin receptor.
