Description

3-Methoxyaniline is a chemical compound that is used in the synthesis of other organic compounds. It is a white solid and has melting point of 136 °C. 3-Methoxyaniline can be made by the reaction of aniline with nitrous acid and sodium nitrate, followed by hydrolysis with hydrochloric acid. This synthetic process uses deionized water, sodium nitrate, and protonation as reactants. The product is then purified using an ultrasonic extraction or redox cycle. 3-Methoxyaniline has been shown to have optical properties such as absorption and fluorescence emission spectroscopy.
