Potassium perrhenate is a catalyst that converts hydrogen fluoride to hydrofluoric acid in the presence of potassium dichromate. Potassium perrhenate has been shown to be an effective catalyst for the oxidation of organic compounds and can be used as a solid catalyst in reactions involving hydrogen halides. The toxicity of potassium perrhenate has been studied and found to be low, with no evidence of cytotoxicity or genotoxicity. Potassium perrhenate is not soluble in water at neutral pH, but is soluble at acidic and alkaline pH.
