Description:
5-(3-Pyridinyl)-1,3,4-oxadiazol-2-amine is a nitrogen-containing heterocyclic compound. It has been shown to be an inhibitor of bacterial growth and is used as a preservative in foods. 5-(3-Pyridinyl)-1,3,4-oxadiazol-2-amine inhibits the growth of bacteria by binding to bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV enzymes. This prevents the duplication and transcription of DNA.
