1-Phenyl-1-tosyl)methyl isocyanide (PTIC) is an aminopyrazole compound that inhibits the growth of fungi. PTIC binds to the active site of kinases and prevents ATP from binding, thereby inhibiting protein synthesis and cell division. The x-ray crystallographic studies show that PTIC has a vicinal benzothiazole based structure with a phenyl class and an imidazole ring. It also has a strong inhibitory effect on imidazole phosphatase.
