Description

1-Phenyl-2-oxo-3-pyrrolidinecarboxylic acid is a tyrosine kinase inhibitor that has been shown to have high efficacy in tumor xenografts. It binds to the ATP binding site of receptor tyrosine kinases, which are enzymes that transmit signals from outside the cell to the inside. 1-Phenyl-2-oxo-3-pyrrolidinecarboxylic acid inhibits these enzymes by alkylating them and preventing the transmission of signals. It has a nanomolar range and shows high selectivity for receptor tyrosine kinases. This drug also causes tumor cells to undergo expansion, which may be due to its ability to inhibit protein phosphatase 2A activity and suppress apoptosis.
