Description:
Papaverine is a model system of the blood-brain barrier that has been used to examine the effects of anti-inflammatory drugs and antimicrobial agents on physiological levels. It is also used to study the effect of chemiluminescence on pharmacological agents. Papaverine hydrochloride, which is an alkaloid, was shown to have no significant physiological effects in vitro. Papaverine hydrochloride can be used as a standard for pharmacological assays for papaverine.
