Description

(S)-(-)-1-Phenyl-1-propanol is a chiral ligand that binds to metal ions and is used in catalytic reactions. It has been shown to be useful in the asymmetric synthesis of aldehydes, yielding high yields and excellent stereoselectivity. This ligand can also be used for the synthesis of alcohols from cyclohexanone, with the resultant product being either (S)- or (R)-alcohols depending on the reaction conditions. The nature of this molecule has not been determined, but it is believed to be one of two possible stereoisomers: 1-phenylpropane or 2-phenylpropane.
