Product Information
(1,10-Phenanthroline)(trifluoromethyl)(triphenylphosphine)copper(I) is a soluble, crystalline copper complex with an elemental analysis of Cu: C, H, N. It has been shown to be an effective catalyst for the trifluoromethylation of organic substrates such as benzene and ethylbenzene. This reagent can also be obtained by dissolving copper metal in diethyl ether and adding 1,10-phenanthroline (1 mol). The solution is heated to boiling to form copper complexes with the phenanthroline ligands. The solvent is then evaporated off and the product is purified by decantation or recrystallization.
