Description:
10,12-Pentacosadiynoic acid is a fatty acid that has shown to be an effective inhibitor of influenza virus. It has been shown to bind to the viral envelope and interfere with the release of newly created viruses from infected cells. 10,12-Pentacosadiynoic acid is also used for treatment of tumors in animal models due to its ability to cause cell death by damaging the lipid membrane. 10,12-Pentacosadiynoic acid can also be used as a cationic surfactant for x-ray crystallography studies on proteins or DNA molecules.
