N-Phenyl-1-anthramine is a primary amino acid that may be used as a surfactant in cosmetics. It can also be used as an evaporation agent, which is a chemical that changes the physical state of substances by removing water from them. The evaporation process can take place on its own or with the help of other chemicals such as cyclohexanol. In addition, this compound can be used as a diluent and to produce dyestuffs. This substance has some toxicity and may cause irritation of skin and eyes, as well as respiratory tract irritation. N-phenyl-1-anthramine dissolves in hydrochloric acid and chlorobenzene, but not in diluents such as benzene or benzol. This primary amino acid does not react with cyanamide or naphthalene.
