[6,6]-Phenyl-C61-butyric Acid Butyl Ester is a palladium complex that has been synthesized by reacting the corresponding organic acid with a palladium salt in the presence of an organic base. The synthesis of this compound can be achieved by stirring the precursors in an inert solvent at room temperature for a few hours. A proton NMR spectrum was recorded to confirm the structure and purity of the palladium complex. The synthesis of [6,6]-Phenyl-C61-butyric Acid Butyl Ester has been shown to be non-toxic, as it does not show any cytotoxicity or hemolytic activity in an assay using human blood culture cells. Model studies have also confirmed that this chemical is active against Gram positive bacteria such as Staphylococcus and Streptococcus strains.
