Product Information

Name:
(4-Piperidinophenyl)methylamine
Synonyms:
  • Benzenemethanamine, 4-(1-Piperidinyl)-
  • 1-(4-Piperidin-1-Ylphenyl)Methanamine
  • 4-(Piperidino)benzylamine
Description:

4-Piperidinophenylmethylamine is an inhibitor of serine proteases, which are enzymes that break down proteins. It is a low molecular weight and potent inhibitor of the protease tryptase. 4-Piperidinophenylmethylamine has been shown to be a selective inhibitor of tryptase, with little inhibition of other proteases such as chymotrypsin, elastase, or cathepsin G. 4-Piperidinophenylmethylamine also inhibits asthma in guinea pigs by blocking the production of inflammatory mediators such as leukotrienes and prostaglandins.
