Product Information
- 4-Pentynoic Acid, Methyl Ester
- Methyl 4-pentynoate
Pentynoic acid methylester is an organic compound with a functional group of methylester, which is used in the synthesis of triphosphates. A Wittig reaction can be used to synthesize pentynoic acid methylester from terminal alkynes and phosphorous pentachloride. It is also used to synthesize epoxides, azides, and protectins. Molecular modeling has been used to study the chiral properties of pentynoic acid methylester. The ester hydrochloride salt of this compound catalyzes asymmetric epoxidation reactions in micelles at room temperature. The stereospecificity of the epoxidation reactions was determined by integrating the product distribution with molecular modeling.
