Description:

Palmatrubine is a natural product that is obtained from the plant Rubia cordifolia. It has been shown to have cardioprotective effects in mice and rats with myocardial infarction. Palmatrubine inhibits angiotensin-converting enzyme, which reduces the production of angiotensin II, a peptide that regulates blood pressure. It also lowers cholesterol levels by inhibiting HMG-CoA reductase, an enzyme involved in the synthesis of cholesterol. Palmatrubine also has anticancer activity against leukemia cells. This anticancer effect may be due to its ability to inhibit DNA synthesis and cell proliferation.
