Pulsatilla is a plant with many medicinal properties. Pulsatilla saponin D, which is found in the roots of this plant, has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells by inhibiting the mitochondrial membrane potential and inducing caspase-independent cell death. Pulsatilla saponin D also inhibits the development of infectious diseases by inhibiting p-gp activity. It has been shown to have significant cytotoxicity against galleria mellonella and MDA-MB-231 breast cancer cells.
