Plantagosides are a group of natural compounds found in the fructus plantaginis. They are structurally similar to the fatty acids, and they have the physiological function of inhibiting the growth of bacteria. Plantagosides also have antimicrobial activity against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. This compound has been shown to be effective against infectious diseases such as hepatitis, and it has been observed to have an antibody response in humans, as well as in 3t3-l1 preadipocytes. Plantagoside is also a natural compound found in food products such as vegetables and grains, and it can be used for medicinal purposes or as a chemical biology reagent.
