Perfluorooctene-1 is a perfluorinated compound that belongs to the group of linear polymers and has a molecular weight of about 1000. It can be oxidized by hydrogen peroxide to form hydroperoxides, which react with metal ions to produce metal-containing compounds. Perfluorooctene-1 can also be used as an electron donor in oxidation reactions and can be used in devices such as ion pumps, fuel cells, and electrochemical cells. The main oxidation products are ozonides, chlorine atoms and trifluoroacetic acid. Other functional groups include carbonyl groups and styrene.
