It is also used as a solvent in organic chemistry. 1H,6H-Perfluorohexane is a liquid at room temperature and pressure. It has a boiling point of 62°C and is insoluble in water. The solubility of 1H,6H-Perfluorohexane increases with the addition of hydrogen bond donating solvents such as ethers or alcohols. It has a density of 0.8 g/mL and refractive index of 1.4194 for n-octanol. 1H,6H-Perfluorohexane does not react with oxygen and has no odor or color.
