Description:

Pentafluoropropionaldehyde ethyl hemiacetal (PFPE) is a chemical compound that can be used in the treatment of industrial emissions. It is an efficient, economical and environmentally friendly way to remove fluorine from various fuels and industrial processes. PFPE is also an excellent electron donor, able to reduce metal oxides, such as copper oxide. It has been shown to be processable at room temperature and without the need for a catalyst. This material can also be isolated from other chemicals using a variety of methods including column chromatography or crystallization. The major impurities are aldehydes and oxides, which can be removed by distillation or vacuum stripping.
