1H,1H,2H,2H-Perfluorodecyldimethylchlorosilane (1-PDMS) is a chemical compound with high stability. It is used as a coating to protect against corrosion and abrasion in many different applications. 1-PDMS has been shown to be chemically inert, stable under extreme conditions of pH, and resistant to water. 1-PDMS has also been shown to be compatible with copper oxide in the presence of sodium hydroxide solution and deionized water. 1-PDMS can be applied as a protective coating on silicon surfaces that are exposed to low energy radiation from ultraviolet (UV) light or electrons. The monolayer formed by 1-PDMS is stable and does not undergo any degradation reactions when exposed to air or moisture for long periods of time. The molecule itself is also resistant to photoelectron emission and decomposition into smaller compounds when exposed to UV light.
