It has shown to be effective against intestinal bacteria and can be used for the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease. Pentafluorophenyl N-[(9H-fluoren-9-ylmethoxy)carbonyl]-L-norleucinate is also used as an intermediate in solid phase synthesis, as well as in the synthesis of other glycopeptides such as pentafluorophenyl N-[2-(2,4,6-trimethylbenzoylamino)ethyl] L-norleucinate.
