Quinoxaline-6-carbaldehyde is a synthetic, cytotoxic compound that inhibits cell growth and induces apoptosis in cancer cells. It has been shown to inhibit the proliferation of G1 phase cancer cells, which may be due to its ability to inhibit protein synthesis and induce DNA fragmentation. Quinoxaline-6-carbaldehyde also has an inhibitory effect on cancer cells with a methoxy group in their a-ring. This compound is more effective when used in combination with pyrazoles. Molecular modeling studies have revealed the binding interactions between quinoxaline-6-carbaldehyde and the active site of human brain tumor cells. The biological properties of this compound have been studied using molecular methods, such as gel electrophoresis and thin layer chromatography.
