Quinoxaline-2-carboxamide is a molecule that exhibits potent antibacterial activity against a variety of bacteria including Staphylococcus and Trichomonas vaginalis. Quinoxaline-2-carboxamide is an amide derivative of quinoxaline, which has been shown to be a chemoattractant protein for wild-type mice. This molecule was found to inhibit bacterial growth by binding to the cell wall and preventing the synthesis of proteins necessary for cell division. Quinoxaline-2-carboxamide may also have an antibiotic effect on gram negative bacteria such as E. coli, P. aeruginosa, K. pneumoniae, and Vibrio cholerae.
