Description:
2-Quinoxalinecarboxaldehyde is an organic compound with the formula CH3C6H2CHO. It is a white solid that is soluble in organic solvents and water. 2-Quinoxalinecarboxaldehyde has been shown to exhibit antibacterial activity against E. coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Staphylococcus aureus. The mechanism of action of this compound is not well understood, but it may be due to the structural analog of quinoxalines which are known for their antibacterial activity. 2-Quinoxalinecarboxaldehyde has also been shown to have anticancer properties in tissue culture experiments.
