Quinoline-2-boronic acid is a boronate ester that has been used as an analytical reagent in carbohydrate binding studies. It is also used to study the interaction of lipids with proteins, and as a light emitting molecule for optical sensing. Quinoline-2-boronic acid has been shown to inhibit the proliferation of cancer cells and human serum cells, which may be due to its ability to bind fatty acids. It has also been shown to inhibit the activation of toll-like receptors by inhibiting lipid kinase activity. Quinoline-2-boronic acid can be used in pharmaceutical preparations for the treatment of inflammatory diseases, such as arthritis, or for cancer prevention.
