Quinoline-4-carboxylic acid hydrazide (Q4CAH) is a new quinoline derivative that has been shown to be active against c. neoformans and typhimurium. Q4CAH inhibits bacterial growth by binding to the gyrase enzyme, leading to a blockage of the DNA replication process. Q4CAH has been shown to have antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pneumoniae. It also had an inhibitory effect against fluconazole-resistant C. albicans isolates and S. cerevisiae.
