Product Information
- N-[6-(diethylamino)-9-{2-[(octadecyloxy)carbonyl]phenyl}-3H-xanthen-3-ylidene]-N-ethylethanaminium perchlorate
Rhodamine B octadecyl ester perchlorate (RBOEP) is a fluorescent dye that is used as a diagnostic agent. It can be used to detect and visualize the presence of congestive heart failure, radiation, or cancer cells. RBOEP binds to DNA binding domains in the membrane system and can therefore be used for diagnostic purposes. RBOEP has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells by binding to hydroxyl groups on the surface of these cells. This dye also inhibits certain enzymes that are required for cell growth, such as protein kinase C.
