Description:
Rac-4-hydroxy-2-pyrrolidinone is a hydrogenated form of racemic pyrrolidinone. It is a synthetic drug that belongs to the class of carbapenem antibiotics. Rac-4-hydroxy-2-pyrrolidinone inhibits bacterial growth by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit and inhibiting protein synthesis. This drug has been shown to be effective against Staphylococcus aureus, Enterobacteriaceae, and Acinetobacter baumannii in vitro.
