Rac-3-octadecanamido-2-ethoxypropan-1-ol phosphocholine is a synthetic analog of 3-octadecanoylphosphatidylcholine. It has been shown to activate macrophages and leukemic cells. Rac-3-octadecanamido-2-ethoxypropan-1-ol phosphocholine has been shown to have anticancer activity in vitro, as well as an ability to inhibit the growth of human leukemia cells. It also inhibits lipid peroxidation, which may be involved in the mechanism by which it inhibits tumor cell proliferation. Rac3 octadecanamido 2 ethoxypropan 1 ol phosphocholine may also act by inhibiting superoxide production or by inducing dismutase activity in mouse peritoneal macrophages.
