Product Information
Ranatensin is a peptide drug that is used to treat autoimmune diseases, such as multiple sclerosis and rheumatoid arthritis. It was discovered in 1973 during the search for a potent angiotensin system antagonist. Ranatensin binds to angiotensin II receptors, which inhibit the release of calcium ions from intracellular stores. This inhibition of calcium release inhibits the contraction of smooth muscle cells, thereby decreasing blood pressure and relieving pain. Ranatensin has been shown to be beneficial in treating bladder disorders, such as incontinence and chronic cystitis. It has also been shown to have anti-inflammatory effects by inhibiting prostaglandins in several animal models.
