Product Information
- Ethanesulfinic acid, sodium salt (1:1)
Sodium ethanesulfinate is a chemical that has been shown to have antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and photocatalytic properties. It is an anthranilate with a hydrocarbon group, fluorine, and methyl anthranilate attached to the central carbon. The sodium ion replaces the hydrogen atom on the central carbon in an organic molecule. This compound can be synthesized by reacting potassium ion with triethyloxonium chloride and sodium sulfite. Sodium ethanesulfinate has been shown to inhibit inflammation in animal models of inflammatory diseases such as arthritis and colitis. It also showed antimicrobial activity against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.
