Sulconazole is an antifungal agent that belongs to the group of imidazole derivatives. It is a broad-spectrum drug that has been shown to be effective against many types of fungi, including dimorphic fungi. Sulconazole has also been shown to have anti-inflammatory effects in experimental models of autoimmune diseases and congestive heart failure. The drug has been shown to inhibit epidermal growth factor in vitro. Sulconazole is absorbed rapidly from the gastrointestinal tract and metabolized extensively by the liver, with a plasma half-life of about 2 hours. Sulconazole is excreted mainly as metabolites in urine (up to 75% unchanged) and feces (less than 1% unchanged).
