Sodium4-chlorophenoxyacetate is a molecule that is used as a control agent in the manufacture of fatty acid granules. It is also used as a cross-linking agent in the production of urea, which can be applied to wastewater treatment. Sodium4-chlorophenoxyacetate has been shown to have toxic effects on human keratin cells and retinal tissue. The molecule may cause ocular toxicity when it binds to the sample cell and prevents the formation of proteins necessary for eye development. This agent also inhibits the synthesis of scleral proteins, which signifies irreversible damage to this tissue.
