In the industrial setting, sodium tetraboratepentahydrate is used to remove nitro, alkenyl, and dialkylamino compounds from wastewater streams. It is also used as a prespecified damaging agent for chemical analyses, including mutagenicity and antibacterial studies. Sodium tetraboratepentahydrate can be toxic to humans if ingested or inhaled at high concentrations.
