SerinolHydrochloride is a synthetic amino acid with a molecular weight of 210. SerinolHydrochloride has been used as a chromatographic reagent and as an intermediate in the synthesis of carbocyclic nucleosides, such as cytidine-5-diphosphocholine (CDP-choline). It is also used to synthesize serine protease inhibitors that are used for the treatment of autoimmune diseases. SerinolHydrochloride binds to heparin, which prevents blood clotting. SerinolHydrochloride has been shown to be an anticoagulant by inhibiting thrombin activity and increasing prothrombin time in humans.
