9,9'-Spirobi[9H-fluorene]-2,2'-diamine is an organic solvent that is used in polyimide synthesis. It is a diamine monomer with a spirobi[9H-fluorene] backbone, which minimizes the bonding between the polymer chains and maximizes solubility in organic solvents. 9,9'-Spirobi[9H-fluorene]-2,2'-diamine has been shown to be pharmacologically active and can be used to synthesize analogues of 2-aminofluorene. This compound also shows thermal stability up to 200°C and has a high boiling point. 9,9'-Spirobi[9H-fluorene]-2,2'-diamine can be used as a monomer for polyimides at temperatures between 100°C and 250°C.
