Sodium 6,7-dihydroxynaphthalene-2-sulfonate is a synthetic organic compound that has the chemical formula Na(C6H4)SO3Na. It is used as a stabilizer for ion-exchange resins, as an adsorbent in amine and thiourea solutions, and as a ligand in coordination chemistry. Sodium 6,7-dihydroxynaphthalene-2-sulfonate can also be used to form diazonium salts with aromatic amines. This compound has photocatalytic activity, which means it can act as an oxygen evolution catalyst under ultraviolet light. The photoelectrochemical oxidation of chloride ions leads to the formation of chlorine gas.
