Sodium stannate is a reactive metal compound that is used in the production of fatty acids. It reacts with hydrochloric acid and sodium hydroxide solution to form stannate, an inorganic acid. Sodium carbonate and quinoline derivatives are then added to produce cationic surfactants. The cationic surfactant reacts with the sodium citrate to produce an electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) probe for detection of chloride ions.
