Product Information
Sodium cyanoacetate is an analytical reagent that is used to detect the presence of active methylene in chemical reactions. It can be used as a solid catalyst for wastewater treatment and has been shown to have anti-inflammatory effects. The reaction solution between sodium carbonate, hydrochloric acid, and vibrational energy produces sodium cyanate. Sodium cyanate is then reacted with malonic acid in a dehydration reaction to give hydrogen chloride and chloride. This process can be used to produce pharmaceuticals such as acetaminophen (paracetamol) by reacting the hydrogen chloride with para-nitrophenyl chloroformate.
